Our innovative mental health champion scheme supports the identification of students who are in need and struggling with mental health issues including eating disorders, anxiety and self-harm.
Students and staff receive training on these common mental health issues and learn what to do if they are worried about someone. We use case studies that students can identify with to identify vulnerable people. Training sessions are good fun and all involved take the content very seriously. Training materials are available to parents to use in discussion with their child. Students learn that to pass on their concerns to an adult is always the right thing to do so we can ensure the vulnerable person gets the support they need.
We have over 80 mental health champions from Y7-13 and 25 staff champions who are easily identifiable with their smart mental health champion badges.
