Student Voice – Out There

Outwood Grange Academy is a community and as such believes that all members of its community are of equal value and invaluable worth. At Outwood Grange Academy we believe that all students are entitled to contribute actively in shaping the educational experience they and their fellow students receive. Any student in any classroom in any year, has a voice that should be heard in the Academy. Student Voice allows students to share who they are, what they believe, and why they believe what they do with their peers, parents and teachers. At Outwood Grange Academy we care about what the students think and take time to listen to their views. We do this through Out There. Each VMG elects an Ambassador to represent their views during Out There meetings. We also have a president for each continent, Europe, Africa, Americas, Asia and Australasia. Students apply and are interviewed for the position, this is a rigorous process and prepares students for future interviews when they leave the Academy. Both Presidents and Ambassadors meet once per half term to discuss ideas, issues raised and agenda items which can include, praise, enrichments, SMSC, Post 16 and fundraising projects. The Presidents meet regularly with the Principal and also present in assemblies, at events and support with staff interviews.
